Arrival of Winter 冬至 ...

冬至
dōng zhì
...
my grandfather migrated from Guangzhou, China
before the World War II to South East Asia
...
As a Cantonese, we were taught that
today (Chinese calender 11th month 28th day)
is the day of Winter passing
and this day has more significance
then the Chinese New Year
...
As today, we celebrate the good year that we had
汤圆 "Tang Yuan", a sweet soup of glutinous rice flour balls
which symbolizes
unity and harmony within the family
...

To get through the winter 过冬 (guòdōng) ...
