Reunion Dinner 团圆饭 ...

吉隆坡时代广场 ...
Berjaya Time Square, KL ...

A mouth-watering reunion dinner replica
at the ground floor of the Berjaya Time Square, KL ...

Reunion Dinner or in Simplified Chinese '团圆饭' (Tuan Yuan Fan) is a
Chinese Tradition where all family members will return home to
their parents for a dinner together on the New Years Eve.
That is why there is always
a large migration of people from city back to their home towns every year ...

A replica of a reunion table was the main decoration here
at Berjaya Time Square ...

This is not a typical reunion menu but dish counts
may exceed 10 which I counted here in this replica ...

A dish of mixed vegetables especially the Lotus Root (莲藕) symbolizes
many children and grand-children, I think this one comes
 with some scallop ...

Usually each dish has a meaning, for example the one in the middle view which looks
like a bowl of soup with some colored balls is called the Tang Yuan (汤圆);
Tangyuan is usually eaten together with family.
The round shape of the balls and the bowls where they are served,
come to symbolise the family togetherness.

At least one dish should be something sweet as the final dish ...

A dish of fish is important but not eaten completely
(and the remainder is stored overnight),
as the Chinese phrase (年年有"鱼"余)
"may there be surpluses every year ...

Steam prawns may not be something affordable to
every family ...
In Cantonese Prawn is pronounced as "Ha",
and "Ha Ha" literally in Cantonese is laughing and
I think symbolizes joy and happiness ...

.
The table of food was setup a week ago, and the
and the food still looks very inviting
because it is just plastic food ...

The setting was at the beautiful courtyard at the ground
floor of this shopping center ...
A round gateway is a very common architectural element entering
into a courtyard ...

Such an enclosed courtyard is a characteristic of Chinese Architecture ...
It forms a private world for the people who lived within.
Conforming to "Feng Shui", the open space in the middle usually
has the most concentration of "qi" (breath) in the building complex ...

In my opinion, a thoughtful and meaningful decoration ...
