Love-Hate HDR 爱恨高动态范围摄影 ...

I heard about HDR photos last year when I first
bought my DSLR,
the more HDR photos I see,
I realized that one can either hate or love them
...
Some professionals I came across 
seem to find the whole idea of HDR to be
offensive and an insult to their photography
...

The picture was shot at F18 10mm hand held 3 shots of -1, 0, +1
and used photomatix to process it before finishing touches in lightroom

Some like it, some don't 有人喜欢它，有些不喜欢 ...

Extreme Tone-Mapping on 3 image HDR ...

These kinds of processing is fun

as the original image of the 3 exposure was not really exciting, 

but some don't like it as they feel it is not realistic and natural ...

Simpler exposure blending of the 3 images (-0, 0, +1) still brings out 

the highlights of both the sky and cityscapes but 

without too much extreme conditions ...

I like both, it's fun for me to start to 

play with photo software ...

Which one do you like, or none at all ?

I heard that this part of the city is going to be re-built for high-end luxurious
condominiums which cost 15 to 20 times more then our house ...

I bet owners of these Old City Homes are smiling in their sleep
as the promises from the developers to buy their land must be very attractive ...

I also believe that no one cares or want to remember these "Ugly" Old City Homes ...

as most people only see them as a site for soar eyes ...

Even when I was photographing them with my tripod,
passers-by looked at me with an indifferent eye as if what beauty do I see
in them to be photographed, some even asked me why and what I was doing ...

I guess you know why I am here ...
as I came here this week to capture the last glimpse
of "charm" of these Old City Homes before there are gone forever ...

All Shots are done with Nikon D90 using 18-105mm lens with
3 exposure -1 to +1 HDR processed using Photomatix ...

This plant is native to South America and is shipped in the form of canes. 
The canes are put into containers of organic soil and peat moss

known as tap heads from the top of the cane ...

I think a happy plant simply spells green leaves and lively roots ...

...... with my tripod as the sunset is ending its last ray on the Straits of Melacca, I took several bracketed exposure for HDR. After processing, only 1 or 2 came out "right" for me. I am satisfied with my first try on HDR. A really beautiful place to do HDR photography in my opinion on this man made island where this beautiful mosque is located. It is quite windy during the evening, a sturdy tripod is really important. I was aiming at more extreme HDR in the outcome of this photograph.
