2011 Chinese New Year on the third day ...
观音寺,槟城乔治城
Kuan Yin Temple, Georgetown
"red mouth" chì kǒu (赤口) ...

seems to have a theme, and I remember that on the 3rd day
it is "red mouth" chì kǒu (赤口) or is also called chì gǒu rì (赤狗日).
chì gǒumeans "the God of Blazing Wrath" (熛怒之神).
It is generally accepted that it is not a good day to socialize or
visit your relatives and friends.
I am not sure why and not many in the younger generation
follows it. BUT I think after so many activities on the New Year eve,
first and second day of the New Year with so much food and
long days and long nights; it is important to take a rest; eat
something simple at home before the
next 9 more days of celebration !
Some quiet praying or visit the temple is also a good idea
as one can do some vegetarian food at the temples
after consuming so much "Sin" food and
you will not be able to talk too much or too loud in
a temple ...
