Genghis Khan Exhibition
成吉思汗展览
2011 Feb 17 - April 10
Please walk along with me through one of the exhibition hall
of the Genghis Khan Exhibit ...
As you enter the exhibit within the Singapore Arts & Science Museum,
you are greeted with this mysterious walls of hanging cloths
in a very dark hall ...
Here, just beyond the entrance; you will see a model re-construction
of the Belitung Shipwreck, found by fishermen off the
Indonesian Island of Belitung in 1998.
I loiter around the entire exhibit by myself, I have not seen other
visitors except some guards at each corner of the exhibit ...
The wreck has been confidently dated to the 9th century through ceramics analysis
and carbon dating. Its location in Indonesian waters, and its cargo of
Chinese ceramics, provide archaeological evidence for direct trade between the
Western Indian Ocean and China in the first millennium,
although this is subject to some speculation.
I find the lightings are very interesting in this exhibition ...
These must be war tents of the Mongolians ...
The overall experience of the Genghis Khan museum exhibit is a little bit
unusual compared to other museum exhibits.
I guess partly it is because the exhibit is housed in the
Singapore Arts & Science museum,
This 'Lotus-Inspired' building located at the Marina Bay Sands was
something unique to see and explore.
