A typical Chinese Wedding
...
The Couple welcomes the guest at the front door
that's usually around 7pm
...
The parents of both couple greets each other
and invite other representative to the
main table
(usually well decorated table near the center stage)
the TV monitors are only for the karaoke as
well the wedding couples photos
...
Not until 8:30am, typical Chinese Wedding,
it starts almost 1.5 hours later as
punctuality is never observed
(some guest even arrive after the wedding started after 9 pm)
It is a "Chinese" habit to be late for wedding dinners
at least that's what I know of Malaysian "Chinese"
But we arrive to any wedding dinner around or before 7 pm
...
There is always a Master of Ceremony is multiple language skills
of Chinese dialects who usually are also good in singing
...
Of course, the first of the 8-9 course meal is first to be served
to the head table where the bridal sits
...
and of course, the karaoke begins
when food is served
I admire the courage of those who go on stage
to sing but some of their skills are a little unbearable
...
At the 3rd or 4th course serving, there will usually (always) be
the cake cutting session on the stage,
most couple prefer the western approach
but a few still follow traditional Chinese ceremonies
...
and the champagne
...
... plus maybe some romantic moments on stage
...
shortly,
... the parents of the couple or respected elderly of the family
are invited to go on stage for a toast
...
... and everyone calls out "Yam Sheng" 3 times
...
... more food after that
.. and the 7th or 8th course of a 9-10 course meal dinner
the couple will drop by each table
to thank the guest by a toast
where more "Yam Sheng" is shouted with the toast
...
... and that's a typical Chinese Wedding
at least what I know of
...
my brothers wedding
...
