Facing the sea, with mountains surrounding it,
there
were only nine families at Jiufen
in the Ching Dynasty.
Therefore, when they purchased daily necessities
from the outside,
they just needed nine sets (Jiufen).

From then on, people used the name Jiufen (九份) for this
place.
For a long time, Jiufen preserved its simple
atmosphere,
although it was very prosperous once
because of gold mining.
During the Japanese colonization
period,
Fushan Temple at Jiufen had become the
biggest
Tu Ti Kung temple (土地公庙).
Kuan Kung (關公), the god that guards over business,
became
the prominent God here.
