Travel Lens 旅游镜头 ...

We are going to have a family vacation
at the end of this year,
I really want just to carry 1-2 lens to go with the D90;
perhaps the 50mm f1.8 for low light
and another all-purpose lens.
...
Should I buy one of these
Tamron 18-270mm ? Nikon 18-300mm (DX) ?
Nikon 18-200mm (DX) ? Nikon 28-300mm (FX) ?
Or
Just stick with my Nikon 18-105mm Kit Lens

Cheap Lens 便宜的镜头 ...

Nikon 70-300 f4-5.6G
Price USD $130,
I bought it 3 years ago with the D90.
Most people tell me it is a cheap and useless Lens,
Last two months in Hong Kong
I was so reluctant to remove this lens
from the D90
...
I am not a Pixel Picker,
you can check-out shots taken using this lens at
Flickr Set on Nikon 70-300 f4-5.6G on the D90

Small Wonder 小奇迹 ...

As you know, I was and am still looking
for a point and shoot to complement the DSLR
...
my brother gave me one from his annual dinner lucky draw
an Olympus model FE-46 (I think it is less then US$100),
No aperture or shutter control,
only exposure compensation in general
...
Some of the blog posts done in the past few weeks
were using that camera
(and all of what you see below)
...
There are some fancy built-in magic filters
I have yet to explored
...

Trigger happy ...

I do enjoy this little camera,
its free ... I carry it with me now everyday
until I get a point and shoot, or maybe not

A new tripod 新的三腳架 ...

The Benro A300-EX's ball-head snapped
just short before the 1 year-warranty;
but the distributor insist it was my fault
...
No more Benro (China) !!!
Here comes my new friend Manfrotto (Italy)
and hopefully
a longer lasting relationship
...

Manfrotto 498RC2 ...

Manfrotto 498RC2 ...

I got the 498rc2 for the same price as the 486rc2,
it is a little bigger with the panning dial at the bottom
of the ball-head ...

Manfrotto 190cxpro4 ...

the 190cxpro4 is carbon fibre,
it really does feel light without the ball-head on ...

Second shots (SOC) using the wide angle lens in
the class room before the students come in ...

I have been contemplating between the
Tokina 11-16 vs the Nikon 10-24

The Tokina's fix F2.8 aperture vs Nikon's Longer Zoom Range
The Tokina's price 1/3 lower then the Nikon lens
The "more" solid build Tokina according to review
The "compatibility" of non-Nikon lens on Nikon cameras
The Tokina's without built-in motor compared to the Nikon with the motor
You bet I read so many reviews about them ...

After 6 months of all that ...
I hope I have made the right decision ...

The wide angle has and will open a whole new
perspective of looking at composition,

my interest for photographing architecture
when deciding on getting the DSLR 15 months ago
will extend further with this lens and
I am looking forward for architectural
photographing in a whole new different perspective ...
